My business name “Symetry” is missing "something":
Yes, symetry is missing one "m". It is slightly disconcerting to type in a deliberately misspelled word, but you clearly know what the word is. Something is missing but it's still a coherent entity.
Symmetry represents perfect balance:
One half perfectly reflects the other half. A mirror image. Symmetrical and balanced.
SyMetry is not perfect:
But then, people are not perfect. I think of the dual aspect of nature (yin and yang) which flow perfectly in to each other (but are not perfect reflections of each other).
SY-ME-TRY has three syllables:
The symbolism of three is found everywhere. It is in the new testament: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. In genetics: father (sperm), mother (egg), child (embryo). In transactional analysis, there are three states of self: parent, adult, child. And so too are there three elements to human nature: thought, feeling, behaviour.
Symetry embodies the journey toward self-efficacy:
Symetry can be read as "see me try" or in other cases, "<sigh> me try."
All I can ever ask of myself or others is that we do actually TRY.
My special clients embody the symbolism of the word symetry.
Additional note: Back in the days before the Internet (well actually in the days of the "dirt track" Fidonet) I wanted to use the name "symmetry". I had to use a seven-digit login starting with "P" for my server, so I used name of Psymetry (incorporating psychology). Moving from my Fidonet account to an Internet account, I dropped the P. Sometimes I wonder if that was a mistake?
My old logo:
It showed two hands circling a sphere (the world within). It symbolised that Psychology is a helping profession. The two hands represented embracing and scaffolding clients. The symbol highlighted that fact that supporting children with autism is a collaborative process - hand in hand.
The space between those hands is an S:
That's where I (Sharon) fit in. I am passionate in my belief that I am doing what I was meant to do. I am passionate in my belief that what I do makes a difference.
The logo is a modified Yin-Yang symbol:
The hands are white and blue, representing the dual aspects of human nature (masculine and feminine, success and failure, good and bad). I choose not to use black. Black is the absence of colour; and the absence of life.
The white "hand" is also a symbol of the "dove":
This represents "setting my clients free." It didn’t have a specific (Christian) religious meaning. But I am happy for others to take that on board if it has meaning for them.
